FOCUS=SUCCESS

The following quote from Tim Cook is something I read in"Seth's Blog" yesterday.

Tim Cook at Apple: “This is the most focused company I know of, am aware of, or have any knowledge of... We say no to good ideas every day.” Cook then pointed out to analysts that every single product the company makes would fit on the single conference table in front of him. “And we had revenue last year of $40 billion."

I would like to add the following comments;

As a Mac and I-phone owner I can vouch for the superior products and the service they provide at the Apple Store.

While most of us want to keep adding products and doing more and more Apple has learned to FOCUS and in doing so has become a huge and wildly successful company. But, I have noticed it's not just true of big companies. I was at Eischen's this week. Have you ever noticed how many items are on their menu? 8. That is right 8. And the place was packed on Wednesday night. This weekend they will be on a 1-2 hour wait for Chicken on Friday and Saturday night. Why do we always try to do more when we should be focused on doing what we do better?

This is a great lesson for all of us...more does not constitute success. How many things can you be great at? How many things can you be the market leader in?

F-O-C-U-S = S-U-C-C-E-S-S

  1. Excellent point. Succeed on your strengths and keep the end goal in mind.

    Great reminder

  2. Eventhough it is hard to say no it is also impossbile to be all things to all people. A fast NO is much better than a slow maybe!
    BTW my dear friend, you never took me to Eischens so I would not know how many items is on their menu but I will take your word for it!
